Contrary to popular belief, black cats are far from bad luck. Like all other friendly felines, they will love you just as much. In Japan, black cats are reveired and considered good luck. They were also worshipped by ancient Egyptians. Black cats face this unfortunate discrimination which leads to a low rate of adoptions and mistreatment from the public. They are just as lovable as any other cat breed or color.

Should Moms-to-be avoid cats?

Sadly, hundreds of cats are turned in to animal shelters or placed in different homes every year because of this myth. While cats can be infected with a disease called toxoplasmosis, which occasionally can be spread to humans through cat litter boxes and cause serious problems in unborn babies. However, these problems can be controlled, if the expectant mother avoids contact with the litter box and assigns daily cleaning to a friend or other family member.
